Minutes of Extra Meeting held at 7.30 p.m. on 10th April, 2006

 

 

  1. Present: Cllr. H. Bryant (Chair), Cllr. G. Daniels, Cllr. J. Thom, Cllr. J. Watson. In Attendance: A. Edmonds (Clerk)
  2. The meeting had been called primarily to consider the programme for the following eveningÕs Annual Parish Meeting. It was agreed that the written report from St. MichaelÕs School should be made available, that Christine AdeyÕs talk on the Police Authority should immediately follow the questions on the ChairmanÕs Report and that there should be an interval before the talk on Forensics.
  3. Cllr. Watson explained that the Environment Dept. of WHC had now stated that the Parish Council had no jurisdiction over the Pond and that a meeting had been arranged for 10.30 a.m. on Wed. 10 May with Chris James, the Police and the Countryside Management Service to establish the future responsibilities concerning the Pond. The Chair undertook to try to attend the meeting, but was anxious to ensure that the Parish Council had a recognised responsibility for representing local views on the management of the Pond.
  4. Cllr. Watson will contact Paul Hart to ask him to make a brief presentation to the Council.
  5. The Council noted the resignation of Fiona Young as Bookings Clerk and Minutes Secretary. Cllr. Watson proposed the appointment of Janet Pearce as Bookings Clerk and this was agreed. There was no decision regarding the Minutes Secretary.
  6. It was agreed that, in accordance with the national settlement, the pay of the Council staff should be increased by 2.5% from 1st April, 2006. The CouncilÕs Budget had allowed for a 3% increase.
  7. The Accounts for the year ended 31st March, 2006, were reviewed. Cllr Watson proposed and Cllr. Thom seconded a resolution that they be approved and this was carried. The payments for March were also examined. Cllr. Watson proposed and Cllr. Daniels seconded a resolution that they be approved and this was carried. The Clerk reported that he had that day received a PAYE tax rebate of £250 for filing the 2004-5 Returns online. A further £250 could be expected for this year.
  8. Cllr. Daniels reported an income of £229.60 from the sale of the village calendars and this amount was passed to the Clerk for banking. A further income of about £200 was expected.
  9. The next full Council meeting would be on 9th May.
